Historic Flights B-25 Grumpy

2022 Felt Field Neighborhood Day

Once a year in the spring, Felts Field opens its doors and aprons to the general public. This year being no exception, and the first full year Without Covid restrictions, allowing Felts fields most recent large tenant “Historic Flight” to showcase their collection to the general public of Spokane. With great demonstration flights from both of the collections B 25 Grumpy as well as the Pan-American C 47 , the public just loved it! Helicopter rides were to be had along with many great displays, from historic aircraft to hands on displays for all ages.. and great food to boot!! It is always my hometown kickoff to my shooting season, even though Skyfest pre dated the itinerary this year. great fun!

Don Kress Piloting S.C.S.D. OH-58 into a spot on 1600 eta mark @ LZ.

This spring has been super busy, slated with multiple shows and events, this being none the less indeed! This past month when the call comes with coordinates, you hop to it to plan for lighting and lensing. The day was set and i was packed and ready,Don was right on time, i had him on flight radar, and arriving at a location for Extended Learning in Spokane Valley, A Parking lot right off one of the main drags, so it was going to draw some attention. I picked my spot just short of the proposed LZ right next to an ornamental tree, i knew that put me in a relatively safe zone to shoot. I was not dissappointed except in hindsite i’d of rather shot both video and stills instead of stills only.Don and the entire crew hooked in for a low pass and then a slow hover forward to eye level and rotation and set, Picture perfect for a play on words and a great day with many services participating in the event. To see the entire shoot make sure you drop by the photo server located on the menu to review the whole event.

Thank you for visiting

SkyFest 2022

Fairchild AFB as always , rolled out the red carpet for its neighbors in SkyFest 2022, after a long hiatus due to Covid I think the entire city was ready for airshow! And boy did the airshow come to Spokane. The talent lined up this year was outstanding! Of course the Always amazing Thunderbird demonstration team rocked our world all week.. The roster was deep, the navy’s F/18 demonstration was over the top Solid. McChord and Travis bases brought their C17 teams and our base over the mountain McChord Really hung it out there demonstrating its capabilities.

Shot all three days with different missions, i think friday was my favorite, the end of runway shooting arrival and team practices. That being said i was dreaded leading up to it, but i Found that live broadcasting wasn’t so bad and i would indeed be able to speak for 45 minutes without too many pregnant pauses.

Sunday, that was my son Bens day, and his first ever day shooting with his own camera, i handed down my Fuji to him, the eyes of Ben story that came out of the day was priceless, he had his share of tossers but he also shot some very enviable shots!

Well next official stop will be Moses Lake Air show and then back to Felts Field for neighbor days.

fair winds and blue skys (with a few clouds for texture) to you all 🙂
